Deirdre & Denis Wells House & Gardens

Wedding at Wells House & Gardens

It wasn’t a hard decision for my fun loving couple Deirdre and Denis to choose a wedding at Wells House & Gardens in Wexford. Why? Because Deirdre grew up there as a child and it was there that Denis professed his love for her. With her mum now being the wedding coordinator for Wells House everything was perfect. I have never photographed there before and the minute I arrived I was blown away by the venue, it has everything, even a petting zoo and a shooting range which is open to the public!

The couple did a lot of work themselves in preparation for their Wedding at Wells House & Gardens, reception decorations including ribbon bunting, photo wall, table cloths, party favours and even a bar. And their “dog child” Benji was there that morning to oversee that all the work was done before the humanist outdoor ceremony took place on the back lawn. Deirdre herself says she has 2 dads so both of them walked her down the aisle to greet Denis.

It has not been that easy for the pair of them. Having met in Sydney Deirdre left Sydney to pursue her medical studies in Birmingham. So a long distance relationship survived until Denis made the brave move to Birmingham and now the happy couple have put roots down in Cork.

With having lived at Wells House, Deirdre said as a child she used to climb the trees. On her wedding day in her beautiful wedding dress, she took on the task and to the delight of the guests she got up to the main branch for a few photos. Now on a roll, the bridal party were happy to take to the crop fields at the front of the house. I subsequently learnt something new, it was barley not oats, I googled it!!!! We nearly lost a bridesmaid who fell in the field and all we could see was her bouquet in the air. She couldn’t stop laughing and the lot of them had the craic, even playing fields of gold on their phones as we took the photos.

The newleyweds took some time out for some staircase photos for their Wedding at Wells´Hoúse & Gardens. Denis got into it and was even suggesting nice areas on the staircase for the photos. He even admitted he had seen a few wedding magazines at his local barbershop and joked that perhaps they could be in one now. So we must hold that thought!
