Maria & Paul Glasson Lakehouse

DIY Wedding at Glasson Lakehouse

Maria and Paul had no effort spared in making their day personal and unique for this DIY Wedding at Glasson Lakehouse. Maria got ready in her family home. Where her parents had a mural on the barn wall to mark the occasion and the hay bales were dressed as a bride and groom. Even the sheep were looking their best! Dressed up in bows and flower crowns. And the personal touches didn’t end there, with the videographer for the day being a friend of the couple.
The lads got ready in Firehouse. Which was just across from the aptly named, Bride Street! There were no flies on Paul, who had all the details set up when we arrived to shoot. He even had time to add some final touches to his speech. Meanwhile the girls got some shots around the family farm and looked through a photobook of the hen night, before getting into their dresses. Maria had the beautiful detail of a butterfly sewed inside her gown, a small token to remember her Brother at this DIY Wedding at Glasson Hotel.

The lads got some shots outside, some of which were photobombed by the traffic! Then headed off to the church. With time to spare, Paul and his Groomsmen showed off their hurling skills on the church grounds. Using a sliotar that they personalised with their names and wedding date. Another adorable DIY detail at this Wedding at Glasson Lakehouse. Once Maria and her Dad had the sheep fed, it was time to go and get married!

After the ceremony, the newly weds drove back to the Family farm for some photos. Their theme as the Bog and Burren. where the two farm lands meet.We captured all the lovely handmade decor, including a natural arch made by Maria’s Mom. And of course we had to get a shot of them mimicking the silhouette on the mural. We even caught her Dad having a moment with his livestock! With all that love in the air, we followed the couple on to Glasson Lakehouse. Where we had some fun with the bridal party and caught the couple’s reaction to the drone flying over the lake.

As the evening rolled in, the guests gathered together sheltering from the high winds in the cozy bar area. Where they all watched as Paul pulled his best pint! No pressure! A few rounds later and it was time to head to the reception room. Which, in keeping with the DIY element of this wedding at Glasson Lakehouse, had the creatively decorated table tops. With handmade signs that cleverly highlighted key moments in their relationship, in the style of the TV show ‘Friends’ episode titles.

Speeches happened after the meal. Maria’s Grandmother had the room in fits of laughter with her witty and heartfelt words about the family. Once the band were set up, everyone was on their feet and ready to boogie! Maria and Paul surprised their guests with a little dance routine before the crowd joined in. The atmosphere was electric with everyone on the dance floor at this DIY Wedding at Glasson Lakehouse.
