Breda & Chris Lyrath Estate Hotel

Wedding at Lyrath Estate Hotel

Chris backed a winner with Breda when he met her at the Punchestown Races. Now I have heard some proposal stories in my time but wow, this one reads like a Jane Austen novel. He proposed at the start of their month long trip to Australia at a 360 degree observation deck at the Rochford Vineyard in the Yarra Valley. How could a girl not say yes… And then they planned an amazing wedding at Lyrath Estate Hotel.

Breda and Chris chose us as their Lyrath estate wedding photographers as we had shot previously for Breda’s brother’s wedding at the Millhouse in Slane. So its always an honour when you get asked again to document the wedding celebrations in the family. The family couldn’t have been so nice. offering us multiple cups of tea among the madness of the girls getting ready. Breda looked so pretty in her Wedding dress from Lilac Rose in Kilkenny while the girls looked stunning in their blush pink dresses. And Breda was confident enough to do her own make up for her wedding day. And she totally nailed it.

The wedding ceremony took place at St Clares Church in Graiguecullen, Co Carlow.

I had been briefed by Breda and Chris that the Poor Clare’s Sisters closed order of nuns would be attending. It was so amazing to see them hidden behind glass during the ceremony and such a delight to get the chance to document them giving Breda and Chris a special blessing after the ceremony in the neighbouring monastery beside the church. They were so excited to see Breda in her dress. Platinum Pictures were also there to document their day.

As we arrived for the wedding at Lyrath Estate the weather turned for the worst but Breda and Chris did not worry, they had a lovely sit down in one of the fancy front rooms and enjoyed some afternoon tea with their bridal party.

When the weather cleared, the bridal party with Breda and Chris came outside for some wedding photos at Lyrath Estate. How epic to see Breda’s wedding dress move in the wind as she walked through the grass.

Then the weather turned nasty again and we headed in for some family photos by the staircase at Lyrath Estate. We got a chance to see the amazing cake made by Jen’s Cake Boutique in Kilkenny and the cute cake topper made by Breda herself.

And we stayed to hear the speeches which were before the meal. How lovely to hear Chris speak so fondly of Breda, And as he told me himself “Breda is my future and that makes me very happy”, you can’t get any better than that in life.

We left them to enjoy their meal and nighttime entertainment supplied by Simon Casey. And we hear they are off to Vienna for a couple of days and then to a little mountain resort hotel in Bad Gastein and to Munich, I hope they like beer…
