It’s a big day when you are booked as the photographer for a wedding at The Langtons Hotel and it’s your own nephew’s wedding day. So my plan was to throw on a gúna and party hard like the rest of the family for Claire and David’s Autumn Wedding at Langtons Hotel.
My nephew’s fiancé Claire is a big part of my life too! She is my all important hairdresser who keeps up my highlights! I love popping over to the mad house to see all the kids and meeting my nephew who like a true computer genius lives out in the new seomra on a big leather chair programming for Microsoft.
With Claire having so many friends, she wasn’t short of a few bridesmaids and the same can be said for David. We were very impressed that he managed to get himself ready as well as help with the boys. Comes from his ability to plan. He is known by the family as “Spreadsheet Dave”.
In between all the getting ready, the lads seem to be able to enjoy a few whiskeys and cigars to set themselves up for the task in hand. A wedding ceremony at Langtons Hotel old cinema theatre. It is so atmospheric with big plush red chairs and moody lighting.
With Claire and her friends mostly hairdressers, the hair dryers were all in use and Claire organised for so many of us to get our hair and make up done. Even I got a chance to enjoy a bit of a pamper session, while Anna did some photos at the autumn wedding at Langtons Hotel too.
The wedding ceremony at Langtons Hotel was very personal with David’s mum Clare singing alongside David’s brother in law Ian on guitar. And then their own kids doing readings and a sand ceremony commemorating Claire’s brother who passed away recently.
There was a lot of laughter too especially when bubbles fell from the top tier in the cinema theatre as the newlyweds headed down the aisle.
Our family is quite extensive so when it came to getting family photos, nearly all the guests had to follow us to the gardens at Langtons Hotel. And we managed even a shot for Claire and David with their own kids and nephews and nieces.
Then, Claire, David, the bridal party, Anna, Me, Dearbhla and even Eugene the videographer hit the streets of bustling Kilkenny City. We decided to showcase how busy Kilkenny is and incorporate the busy cars and people passing through. We had to time a few photos of them without any body else in the frame.
To get a veil blowing photo, I was to the side giving it lots. So much so, it came out of Claire’s head. Which had us all in stitches. Claire and David were great sports and were crossing streets while being papped in true Beatles fashion before heading back for their autumn wedding at Langtons Hotel.
They had a surprise for us all before dinner of a hypnotist who had some guests do some crazy things, such as howl like a wolf or take on the task of a bouncer and tell everyone to keep the noise level down.
After a hearty dinner and speeches it was time for the first dance at Langtons Hotel. Then all of us started to party hard including David’s grandmother who proved to be quite the party animal.
