Autumn Wedding at Rathsallagh House Hotel

Every dog has its day and for Clowie it was when her brand new puppy Lacken rocked up to her on the beach in the rain with a collar that read “will you marry me?” All organised by Stephen. With their obvious love of dogs, they wanted a dog friendly wedding venue in Ireland and chose an autumn wedding at Rathsallagh House Hotel.

Clowie had told me one of her fears was for a rainy day for her autumn wedding at Rathsallagh House Hotel, but when the day proved to be quite miserable. It did not dampen anyone’s spirits and with their wedding being all at Rathsallagh, they did not have much travelling to do anyway. Stephen arrived early to Rathsallagh to put some of the finishing touches to the Pavillion Room while the girls enjoyed hair and make up and champagne, a great start to a wedding day.

With the two of them having met each other in NUI Galway while studying Marine Science and with Clowie working with marine animals and Stephen on a trout farm in Aughrim. It was no surprise there was a nautical theme to their autumn wedding at Rathsallagh House Hotel.

And their lovely Portuguese Water Dog Lacken had a big role to play in the ceremony, as a surprise, he was to bring up the rings. I had heard it was all a bit crazy as Lacken decided to escape from his collar before that and run around outside, but he played his part in the end beautifully. Then Lacken’s mates arrived too for some photos; the other two family dogs Toby the terrier and Ally, the boxer. We loved attempting to get a photo with Clowie and Stephen with all the dogs while also not dirtying the dress!

With the weather really being so bad, I was so proud of the two of them when they agreed to come out in the wet night to have a nighttime photo under the Rathsallagh tree and a few sparkler photos. Well, at least they could go back in and dance the night away to warm up again. And with a honeymoon in Kenya and the Maldives, I don’t think they will be feeling the cold for some time.
